Dr. De (Pronounced “Day”) is the founder and President of Apogee Medical Associates. His Passion for Medicine and academic aptitude earned him Scholarships and Grants that funded his education.

He also secured admission to all the top Medical and Engineering Schools in India, where he chose to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery at Gauhati Medical College in 2001 and went on to become Field Medical Coordinator for Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) in Holland until 2003. In pursuit of his Master’s degree, he went on to secure admission to all top universities including Harvard, John Hopkins, UCLA, and UNC-Chapel Hill. He was later awarded the Presidential Scholarship from Harvard University where he obtained his Masters in Public Health in 2006, all while working as a Medical Consultant for the World Health Organization.

In 2010 he obtained his Medical Degree (M.D.) in Internal Medicine from Staten Island University where he was awarded Certificate of Excellence for Scholarly Activities for three consecutive years, in addition to Resident Researcher of the year in 2008 and In 2014 he went on to complete his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease. Not long after, in 2015, he completed the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at New York Methodist. Throughout his education, he achieved numerous awards and honors, including Scientific presentations at The International Congress of Coronary Heart Diseases in Prague, the Czech Republic in 2009, Best research Paper Award at the Richmond Medical Society Annual Research Competition, and achieved Grant approval by a corporate body, in support of a breakthrough research project to look at graft patency outcomes in patients undergoing the minimally invasive cardiac surgeries.

Dr. De helped prepare the draft for India’s proposal for funding from the Global Fund of Aids, TB, Malaria and was instrumental in India’s successful bid to be awarded $389 million. He served as a key spokesperson for the American Heart Association (NY Chapter) and has been featured on several State and National Television news and talk shows representing various Hospitals and Organizations both in India and the United States.

In 2015, He and his wife Vira relocated to Florida from NY, where he worked alongside Dr. Ruggieri at Center For Health for a year before starting his own practice in late 2016. Since then, he has dedicated himself to providing quality, personalized care to his patients. His medical expertise and well-developed patient rapport have led to the exponential growth of Apogee Medical Associates. In his spare time, Dr. De enjoys spending time with his Wife and Fur-babies, riding his Harley with friends, and also enjoys singing and playing the guitar.

He holds numerous board certifications including Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and RPVI (Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation). He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiovascular Diseases fellowship from Staten Island University Hospital in New York. Then he underwent an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the very busy and prestigious program of Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, NY. He achieved numerous awards as resident/fellow of the year during his training.

Subsequently, he worked as an Interventional Cardiologist in New York and North Carolina. He was the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in upstate New York. He was an integral part of the cardiology fellowship training program there. He specializes in trans-radial cardiac catheterization, complex coronary interventions, endovascular interventions for peripheral arterial disease, and venous interventions for venous reflux disease. He is accepting new patients.

Christine (Chris) Henson

Christine is a very dedicated and empathetic nurse practitioner.

She has been in the health care field for more than 26 years. Originally from Lancaster Pennsylvania, she graduated in 1996 from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. Her main focus in nursing has been Medical Cardiology and Emergency Medicine. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2015 and went on to obtain her Master’s of Science degree in Nursing/ Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona. She graduated with honors and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in Nursing.

Christine believes in developing strong relationships with her patients for optimal and cohesive patient care. In her free time she enjoys swimming, snorkeling, boating, shelling and spending time with her family and her three dogs.

Dr. Yturralde holds several board certifications within his specialty and trained in several prestigious centers. 

 

He was integral in the presentation and implementation of the radial artery access, or wrist, for heart catheterizations in Sarasota dating back to 2007; he had trained all the hospitals and most of the interested physicians in Sarasota of this technique at that time. In 2009 and onward, he was instrumental in obtaining and utilizing optical coherence tomography (OCT) and “FFR” in the Sarasota hospitals to better tailor coronary “stents” to the patient’s individual anatomy, which was a concept about 10 years ahead of its time. 

 

He has been a clinical professor of medicine for FSU College of Medicine for over 10 years and has trained a multitude of medical students and the inaugural residency program in Sarasota. Several research projects that he headed resulted in several medicine resident doctors the privilege to obtain fellowship/advance training in cardiology.
