Dr. Yturralde holds several board certifications within his specialty and trained in several prestigious centers.
He was integral in the presentation and implementation of the radial artery access, or wrist, for heart catheterizations in Sarasota dating back to 2007; he had trained all the hospitals and most of the interested physicians in Sarasota of this technique at that time. In 2009 and onward, he was instrumental in obtaining and utilizing optical coherence tomography (OCT) and “FFR” in the Sarasota hospitals to better tailor coronary “stents” to the patient’s individual anatomy, which was a concept about 10 years ahead of its time.
He has been a clinical professor of medicine for FSU College of Medicine for over 10 years and has trained a multitude of medical students and the inaugural residency program in Sarasota. Several research projects that he headed resulted in several medicine resident doctors the privilege to obtain fellowship/advance training in cardiology.
